Use the Directory Like a Pro
Situation: You are mostly done with booking a tour of the Northwest coming up in a month or two. However, there are a couple of open dates left that you'd like to fill.
Use the Directory to get the dates: Concert series and house concerts book most of their shows far in advance, so you will not try for them. In contrast, some venues have shows seven days a week and might have some openings a month or two from now. You decide that you will focus your efforts on places to play in Washington and Oregon that are classified as Venue in the Type field.
Go to the Directory and follow these steps:
Click on Filter and then Add condition. In the three boxes presented, choose: Type | is | Venue in that order.
Then click on Add condition group. Then click on the + sign and Add condition. In the three boxes presented, choose ST | is | WA (for Washington).
Then click on the + sign and Add condition. In the three boxes presented, choose ST | is | OR (for Oregon).
The Filter insert will look like this:
Note that the entire condition is a place to play Type that is a Venue "and" is in one of the states in the condition group. Within the condition group, the state is either WA "or" OR.
The result is that you have narrowed down the list of candidates to 23, which is more manageable that the 69 at all three types of places to play in the two states.
It takes time and concentration to get the hang of this, but the alternative is to waste time on less focused efforts, or to not get the gigs you want.

Lake Country House Concerts
Rich Hancock has been hosting concerts at his home since 2016. He has a beautiful, secluded property along the Bark River in Hartland, Wisconsin, which is 30 minutes west of Milwaukee and an hour east of Madison. Lake Country House Concerts has both indoor and outdoor stages and, on occasion, partners with local friends to host shows in their barns. Example artists:
