Use the Directory Like a Pro

You can gain insights by viewing the Troubadour Concert Rooms in ways other than as an alpha list of 1,000+ places to play. That's where the Sort, Group and Filter functions help.

Suppose you want to take a deep dive into the gig possibilities in a large state like New York, which has 8 regions in it. You want to group the places to play first by region and, within each region, group by type - venue, concert series or house concert. Here's how to do it.

First, Filter the records to display only those in the state of New York. To do so, click on Filter and Add Condition. In the three boxes presented, choose: ST | is | NY. The Filter insert will look like this:

Next, click on Group and Region/Metro. Then Add Subgroup and click on Type. The Group insert will look like this:

Now you can review the records the way you want to. The Directory shows all 70 places to play in New York, grouped by region, then by type. As an example, here's Long Island:

Cliffwood Garden Music is an intimate garden setting for monthly house concerts in Metuchen NJ. It was formed by friends Gilly McKie and Laura McDowell through shared passion for original music.
